Getting excited by fw updates instead of NPD's.

    You've changed.

I actually had a dream about an FX8 last night thanks to this thread. One day maybe :)

Gaaah I've gone from wanting a tremolo to finding the FX8 to reading this entirely convincing thread (thanks, sincerely) to knowing that I need one. I even found one on ebay last night, almost too good to be true then today, it's gone! So I'm now on the waiting list for one.

One thing that did penetrate the heady excitement of impending New Gear was wondering how easy it is to tweak in a gig situation. I do like being able to do completely necessary tiny tweaks to pedal controls from time to time. Is this a headache on the FX8? Or does it sound that good that you simply don't bother?

  • @jaytmon - this is the slight downside to the FX8 maybe...

Its dead easy via my mac and macbook laptop, but you'll need to bend down and tweak via the physical knobs. Mind you, that applies to any pedal i guess.

Ive found it very easy (and im not a tweaker) to have one bank for home, the same bank then tweaked for rehearsal, and then mirrored and tweaked for live. Add the x/y function and the options grow infinitly

@wazmeister - thanks for that, I gather from reading this thread that you are a die hard separate pedal fan, so it's been very persuading reading your comments.

I tried a Nova System quite a few years ago but it lasted less than a week. However, this sounds like it's in a completely different league with infinitely more flexibility - which is kind of your point I guess, that the FX8 has almost the same flexibility as separate pedals, in some cases more, at least when setting up with a computer.

I can understand why they're out of stock at the moment!

I thought editing on the unit itself was pretty quick and easy - I altered my setting plenty of times during rehearsals and gigs.

I agree. Not as pretty as the helix but functional and straightforward to alter settings on the unit.
