Saw this quite interesting article with Jon Gomm talking about his rig and was surprised by what he uses.

Well @fretmeister that proves two things.

    1) My memory is crapper than I thought. :(

    and

    2) @EricTheWeary isn't far behind me. ;)

Yes that rings the bell correctly this time, well remembered that man.

I'm not surprised. Music is now his full career.

Hanging round here is a hobby for downtime for most of us. Need to be able to split up work and fun.

Mind you, I remember when Guy Pratt turned up on Basschat (Or Bass World as it was). He did the whole 'I'm famous' routine and promptly got told to fuck off.

  • Went to watch him in a gig in Lincoln a few years ago and was blown away by his playing. Great guitar player!

Jon is an extraordinary player, thanks for the article Johnny, really enjoyed a quick read and the Passionflower track.
Doubly interesting as I had been wondering about whether you could get parametric EQ in a  pedal.

My introduction to Jon was a discussion posted recently on tFB with his interpretation of Chaka Khan's Ain't Nobody, which is so good I've just got to put it right here.  (& obviously links to his YouTube channel too)

It would be great if he was on here too, has anyone tried to get him on "board"?
(just read fretmeister's comment, so maybe not then)
I missed him on MR as I had only just started playing again and found MR not long before it went down - ( long live theFretBoard )

For a bit more inspiration, as if any more was necessary, here is a JG masterclass video

That's pretty left field .. seen him play .. quite amazing.

Remember, it's easier to criticise than create!

@Fretwired he is a real talent for sure and it is worth checking out his blog of the Rollercoaster ride that is his career and touring in places he never thought he would get to.

I particularly like his blog on the Aussie tour he did and the places and people he experienced, still a very humble guy I reckon and delighted but not changed negatively in his attitudes.

    Props to the guy.
