    As soon as I saw the thread title 'Burn My Eyes' jumped to mind - although definite honourable mentions for 'Follow The Leader', 'Chaos AD' / 'Roots', Prong's 'Rude Awakening', Fear Factory's 'Demanufacture', White Zombie's 'Astro Creep 2000'...oooohhhh, and I've just noticed that 'Cowboys From Hell' and Megadeth's 'Countdown To Extinction' crept into the 90s as well.

    I don't think I could honestly just pick one. But if I had to, the Black Album wouldn't even be in the running :p

    Vai - Sex and Religion
    Roland said: Scales are primarily a tool for categorising knowledge, not a rule for what can or cannot be played.
    Supportact said: [my style is] probably more an accumulation of limitations and bad habits than a 'style'.

    Agreed on Aenima, Heartwork and Rust In Peace. I never liked Machine Head myself, either.

    My picks;

    At The Gates - Slaughter of the Soul

    Judas Priest - Painkiller

    Kyuss - Welcome to Sky Valley

    Dissection - Storm of the Light's Bane

    Blind Guardian - Nightfall in Middle Earth

    Along with hundreds more I can't remember!

    Drew nailed it.

    Strapping Young Lad's "City" is very, very close to it.

    What exactly is the definition of metal because tbh I get very confused at times.

    Rust In Peace. Superb album.

    I do love Slayer though. Even though my tastes change a lot, Slayer is always there.

  • Good to see 'Rust in Peace' getting mentioned a few times, that was my first thought as well. I don't listen to a lot of that stuff these days but every now and then I stick that one on for the drive home.

    You literally can't help it.  Once upon a time before I had kids and responsibilities to stay alive for I used to put a great metal album on my iPod on the Motorbike ride home.  It not only makes you slightly more 'positive' on the throttle, it also makes you feel a bit more invincible than you really should on a bike.
