  • I play a lot of stuff on guitar that isn't written for guitar. As an old classical player, moving on from the 'established' repertoire and playing arrangements of other tunes has been one of the biggest parts of my learning about the instrument 'post-school'.
Teacher, musician, generally an enthusiastic and peaceful idealist. Run the Contemporary Guitar Performance Workshop education project and the Audio Design Workshop studio. Online guitar and piano/keyboard lessons available over Zoom/Skype.

hmm… Bach for flute sounds interesting… I reckon I need to go look for some scores now..

my student that's learning the Cm prelude from Book I: the well tempered clavier nailed the right hand part for the first time tonight..
totally awesome.. next week we're going to start looking at the left hand part..
    this is so much fun..
I'd love to do 2-part inventions with a bass player, and then add a drummer to turn it into a power trio

    I learnt a few Ed Alleyne-Johnson pieces - he's a loop-heavy electric violin player.

Ironically quite a few of his are interpretations of originally-guitar tracks...

  • You could try a bit of Chopin - Here's an arrangement by Roland Dyens :

    .

Or Schumann's Night Pieces Op. 23 on Steel String :

my student can now play both the left and right hand parts of the Bach prelude..
that means we can play as a duet..
he takes one part and I take the other.. then we swap over..
sounds absolutely wonderful and is awesome fun...
play every note as if it were your first

The bridget Mermikedes transcriptions are wonderful, she has one of Clair de Lune. It's in her book.
I think it's in a GT magazine as well.

I got a book of Bach for solo flute in an attempt to improve my guitar soloing and reading but have mislaid it and not got any benefit :(
There's an arrangement by Denis Azabagic of BWV 1013 Partita for Flute, there's a good recording of this by Enno Voorhurst.
