My Midtown, Version 3

Bought a Midtown Standard about a year ago, started out like this.......

Pretty soon afterwards I put some mini humbuckers in it as at the time I didn't have any real humbuggies in my life, also thought it broke up the rather stark cream plastics a bit. It looked like this.....I rather liked it.

But then, I had too many humbuggies in my life and wanted some P90 action, so rather than go back to the cream, after today it now looks like this......I think the black and vintage amber plastics set it off quite nicely.

They're not hollow, just heavily chambered. I used to have a custom, sounded pretty much like my Les Paul does.

Good move removing the poker chip as well - didn't look right down there for some reason.

As has already been said, it's not a hollow body in the traditional sense, I.e. Like an ES gibson with Laminate maple back sides and front, instead it's a hollowed out mahogany solid body with a flat maple cap. It has a really vintage old school sound with the P90's that is very tone full. It's not the tidiest built guitar I've ever seen but it does have plenty of vibe.

It's a gun rest, like the one in the attachment, although I only got it a few months ago and I didn't pay near that much, seems to have gone up quite a bit! It's a tip I took off Patrick Eggle when I spent a day with him on a set up course last year. I was fed up with the cheap shit planet wave neck stand I had, this one is sand filled and rock solid.

That is a lovely looking guitar - didn't realise they weren't a hollow body, I'll have to try one

I got a couple of those shooting bag thingies - bit cheaper here they work really well, great idea.

I think the black p90s look a lot better than the cream ones. The minihums looked sweet as well.

Blimey. Very nice but too pricey for me. I think I'll carry on using a cushion off of the sofa. Cheers for the info though! Edit. Just had a quick look on flea bay and there are some similar items for under 20 quid which you fill yourself. Cheers!

Usually when people muck around changing stuff I often think it looks cak but the black/amber combo and poker chip removal just looks so much better.
