DOH, just saw u don't want Hifi? What sort of monitoring? I assumed DAW producing monitoring, but reading again, you might mean live monitoringg?

@Branshen - thanks - I was looking around £15 - £20 !  But the main crteria is for sturdy construction and ability to define depth and balance and general spatial awareness from Guitar FX and Synth patch editing.

So many cheaper units sit in either the Hi or Lo end....

I've tried these 2. They're good enough for general listening and will work for guitar patch editing.

Studiospares have a few decent-looking ones around the £20 mark - their own brand and also AKG & Sennheisser.
