Best guitar shop in London

What's Hot
So if I was thinking about getting someone in London a voucher for a guitar shop for Christmas, what would be the best shop.

I was thinking reddogmusic maybe.

The recipient would probably use it towards a lower/medium end acoustic/electro.

just because you don't, doesn't mean you can't

I wouldn't do the voucher thing.
    It only benefits the dealer.
They already have your cash so no haggling is possible.

    Take them shopping!

Problem is they can also be used to pay for other things. Like a ticket to see One Direction for example. I can't have any part in that.

  • Give them cash, and write that it MUST go to a guitar.

If they disobey your generosity, disown them. Consider a hate campaign if said money goes to anything even loosely connected to the X factor.

The problem is, for a guitar purchase you are restricting where they can buy. What happens if the best guitar this person tries is not in the shop they have vouchers for? Also, as the others have said, no way to haggle as you have already paid.

knock up & print a mock voucher yourself, including the promise to come with them and help with the purchase - increases the sincerity and value of the gift.

You could then also have the option to buy a used one on ebay with them, and increase the value of the gift

  • Re the haggling, top tip everyone: do the haggling BEFORE you reveal you have a voucher!!

Maybe take them to Guitar Village in Farnham (OK, not London but fairly easy to get to from London)

Or perhaps Ivor Mairants in Rathbone Place?

Didn't know Red Dog Music had a London shop, I thought they were in Edinburgh.

Took over the former DV247 Clapham premises. Like the DV27 shop they're mainly electronic and dj, but do have a guitar room, which is stacked to the rafters with PRS (and a few other makes, but it's the PRS that hits you).

I still like Peter Cooks in Hanwell. Staff are really obliging. Good idea to check with them by phone what's in stock before travelling over.

GuitarGuitar in Epsom is huge, and have a massive selection. Friendly staff.
