Well the time every dog lover dreads came today. Our fantastic 12 year old black lab had some strokes over the last day or so and had to be put to sleep by the vet.
He lost the use of his legs and everything really as well as one eye had blown, the vet said the kindest thing we could do was put him to sleep.
Brinn was a loyal and loving companion with a great nature getting on well with cats, kids and almost everyone he met. Plus being our grandson's horse when he was younger.
In 12 years he barked 4 or 5 times and even then it was because of a yappy little thing that annoyed him.
So I wonder what in the name of goodness have we done to deserve the last few months, I must have been a Jeremy Kyle in a previous life.
Screw 2013 and the horse it rode in on, bring on 2014.
Anyway here he is in all his silly glory.
RIP Brinn of the Bloodguard.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Tis truly a heartbreaker when your best friend passes away.
just because you do, doesn't mean you should.
I'm not locked in here with you, you are locked in here with me.
You've had a shite year, and I do hope the next one is nowhere near as bad. All the best, mate.
Seriously: If you value it, take/fetch it yourself
The weird thing up to the point he had his first stroke he was his usual bouncy self who thought he was still a puppy, despite being a stiff arse these days.
But on one hand he never had days of suffering so we have to be grateful for that, no long drawn out illness or pain.
12 is not too bad I guess but until this we thought he may go on for a bit yet, shows you can never tell. He was talked to and cuddled right to the end though so he didn't fret.
I remember Bertie and felt gutted for you then, here's hoping we both get a better 2014 doggie wise. It is never easy losing a much loved pet.
