What's Hot

Just had a nice new Bassbreaker 18/30 delivered.  Unpacked and plugged it in for about five minutes just to make sure it was OK.

WOW, is all.

More later when I have more time.

    It is quite nice.
    Despite a few glaring omissions.

I suspect the lack of reverb and an effects loop.  Reverb would have been nice but I'm not so bothered about the loop.
What you get for the price though....

Is it heavy? Say, compared to a HRD? I really like the look of these, but being 2x12 it's probably too big for me. Shame no head option

Surprisingly light. I wasn't expecting it to be quite so big, wide like a Twin and taller and deeper. It actually feels fractionally lighter than my HRDX.  They haven't cheaped out on materials though as everything is good and solid.  A very pleasant surprise.

It's loud too.  I run the clean channel of my HRDX at @ four and a half, this one was @ three and a half on both channels for similar volume. Very clean. Maybe it is the difference having two efficient twelve inch speakers makes.  It was another pleasant surprise.
I'm going to spend more time with it tomorrow with different guitars and effects.

They market it as a pedal platform but don't include an fx loop!!!? Wtf?
    Its not 1956 Fender!!!
    reverb would be nice too.

Also they don't have the same features on the range.....
the 15w head HAS can fx loop, but you can't footswitchable the gain selections.....
the 45 has no switching AT ALL!!!  and no fx loop.
It's such a shame, Fender had oportunity to create a modern classic, but put all the effort into the construction stage, seemingly to forget the functional aspect of the design stage.
it only annoys me because they sound really good, but are next to useless.

But look at the price point, it's less than £60 more than a Blues Junior!

I played the 15.  Great amp. Best New thing from Fender in years.
I wish they would make a 15-20w 6g6 Bassman combo with 15" speaker.  That would be loads of fun!!

This is the one thing stopping me from buying the 15 so far, I really don't understand it as I reckon it could be perfect if it had foot switching.

For my needs I think the 18/30 is just going to be too big unfortunately, so not really sure where I'm going next!

But that's no excuse for a half arsed concept.

Perhaps @MattFGBI could chime in with what the idea behind these amps is?

I was really excited about them, but I just can't seem to get the features I wanted.

For me, I've not pulled the trigger for a couple of reasons - the 15 isn't foot switchable which seems bonkers as it could easily be a gigging amp. The 18/30 is probably too big (physically, being a 2x12) and it's the only one they don't do a head version of, which I would have bought instead as other than that it would be perfect for me. Why Fender...why?!

I agree with reverb but as it's a pedal platform, surely the amp is clean so no FX loop necessary?

Yeah but that 18w ain't gonna stay pristine at gig levels, which means mushy delays and crunchy reverbs......
