Hi guys.
Thought id start with a little bit of info.
Im a joiner by trade who has just started playing guitar.
I believe the guitar to be a beautiful bit of craftsmanship, so when my partner bought me a guitar for my birthday i decided id buy it a beautiful guitar stand to sit on,
Now this is where the problem started.
The only things i could find were the cheap metal stands you get and some crazy expensive things.
So with experience with timber i decided id build my own.
And this is what i ended up with.

As you can see, The stand has foam at the points of contact with the guitar to protect it. it is made from a solid piece of timber (iroko), Im looking to use a variety of different timbers. It has a stainless steel hing at the top and a piece of leather string to set the opening, this can be adjusted to suit any guitar.
It is finished in a mid sheen highly durable lacquer.

I would like to start selling these stands and i wanted to get the opinion of you guys to see what you think.
Im thinking at about the £70 mark.

Im also looking into painting the stand in House of Kolor paint for something special for those colourful electric guitars.
Im also designing different styles to better suit each type of guitar.

If your interested in buying one please contact me and we can discuss what you want.

Id love some feedback so please comment.

Thanks for reading.

It looks nice but there are many similar products available...

Everything is relative but £70 for a single stand is crazy expensive to me (something you mentioned in your post).

    Good luck though.

Oh and one thing. Does the foam you have used react with nitro?

You will definitely need to check that out before selling them to the masses.

Very similar to these stands that a few people here use so you might want to find a way to make yours stand out from similar designs.

  • Thanks for the input guys.
£70 may seem high. But with the materials used and time taken to build.
I literally couldn't sell it for anything less.

I dont know about the nitro. What is it?

Really appriciate the feedback guys. Thanks.

Nitrocellulose Lacquer, it is a finish used on electric guitars.

I don't think that's an unreasonable price, but most guitarists are used to Far East labour rates and seem happier sending money overseas than spending it in their own country.

Nitro is nitrocellulose, a finish that was used on early electric guitars because it was cheap and widely available. It's attained mythical status since. One of its great benefits is that it reacts with some types of foam typically used on guitar stands.
