Well, for me it's kind of a bass lick.

Rattle that Lock- then it goes G#7 to G#7 then Fm7 to GSuS4 I mimick the bass line, as it's a great hook and one of the guitars is doing it anyway

Just for shits'n'giggles I learned the riffs from Metallica's The Thing that should not be.
I's actually fairly easy I learned the chorus riff as well, same, fairly simple.

The opening riff to Marc Bolans 20th Century Boy. Just an E chord down at the cowboy chord end of the fretboard and put my pinky on 3rd fret of 6th string. (I can only get better).
