I just ordered another Megapar so had the link handy. The little carry case is pretty good too.

If you want something cheap and cheerful then these look good value from amazon     it's a smaller size of the Kam led bar kit.          A remote rather than a  footswitch but I'm going to grab a couple to replace my aging icolour4's that I use once in a while.

If all you're doing is flooding the back wall or uplighting with a bit of colour then you really can't go wrong with these.

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Eyourlife-4PCS-18X3W-Led-Par-Can-Disco-lights-RGB-PAR64-DMX512-DJ-Stage-Lighting-/191855958071?hash=item2cab819837:g:d98AAOSwB4NW1Tqm

I bought some a couple of months ago after getting sick of hiring mediocre lights for more than these cost to buy. I compared them to some Chauvet slim par 56's (which cost 4-5 times more, and the light was equally vivid and had a similar spread).

They're cheap so it doesn't matter if one breaks after a few uses, and the ebay seller claims that they have a 2 year warranty. I've used mine for 3 or 4 gigs so far and had no issues.

They are cheap. For 4 of them too :)

  • @hotpickups ;
Yeah, it's pretty amazing really. I bought one for a taster, cost me £18 or something, and was surprised by the quality. I quickly bought four more in a bundle. When they arrived one of them was missing a screw for the stand, so the seller refunded me £2 and told me it was easier to buy a suitable replacement from a hardware store than for them to post one.

I've run them in standalone mode, in master/slave mode with one light controlling the others, and controlled them all via DMX input. One thing to note is that these lights take a different DMX config compared to most other slim par lights that I've come across. They work like this: Master fade, Red, Green, Blue, strobe, macros; whereas most other lights seem to have Red, Green, Blue on channels 1, 2 and 3.

They also have two sound to light modes which work surprisingly well, although they don't have a mic sensitivity adjustment.

The only other disadvantage to this lights is that they each require their own power source, you can't daisy chain the power like you can with more expensive lights. The power cable is moulded to the case so the only option if you wanted to daisy chain them would be to modify them yourself.

  • @hassleham You have to decide if it will work with your setup.

Our setup requires power for 4 active speakers (2 subs and 2 tops), and 2 active monitors front of stage, as well as plenty of power for backline. Therefore we have power extension sockets available at both left and right sides and at front of stage, so we can plug the lights in there.
As long as we ensure there are spare sockets on the extension leads then we're fine, and we have the same amount of cabling running all over the place as we would if we were daisy chaining power to the lights.

The venue I was working in yesterday had a few of those very same lights as uplighters in the bar so I had a good look. The plastic construction feels pretty lightweight and might not take much of a beating but I was pleasantly surprised by the output from them. I don't think you can fault them for that price, I can see myself stocking up on a few for sure. Would be fine for small pub/function gigs and the like.

Yeah, I got those ones, but it seems the master / slave function doesn't work....!
0reaction image LOL 0reaction image Wow! 0reaction image Wisdom
  • @FarleyUK ;Setting up master slave  can be a little tricky. You have to make sure all the slave lights are set up as slave on the menu before being plugged in, and then finally connect the master light at the end.
If you still can't get them to work I would send a message to the seller on eBay.

Yep, I get that - but those lights have no option to set as a master or slave. Have messaged the seller and asked the question on the product page.

£350 - just checking with the guys where we got them from - between 5 of us it's not much and as I'm sure most of you know, it's more likely ppl will get up and dance if it's dark and there are some coloured disco lights rather than a fully lit pub/function room :)

Wow bit more than I could afford but as a band purchase they'd be perfect :) Maybe off subject but how do you guys manage band purchases @Vaiai ;? I mean do the items bought stay with whose band it is when members leave etc?
