New Humbucker naming competition - Free pickup prize

My suggestions aren't exactly the most catchy but I think they are fitting in with the Pure Vintage pickup naming sorts

For the Alnico 8 pickups, I would suggest S70-One for the 10k pickup, and S70-Two for the 13k pickup.  The 'S70' nomenclature comes from Ibanez Super 70, one of the first to use an Alnico 8.

"The Gorgon" ..... perfect for a set of 3 single coils which are currently in very early development, Maynehead. Nice one !! I think you might well have just named a set pickups

I sent a pretty high output bridge single coil to a guitarist in Dublin to have a 1st listen to, so it and the set in general is probably some way from whatever spec it will finish at... but I think the set now has a name. let you know tomorrow once I have ran it by a nights sleep...

I also think this exercise is going to cost me some pickups.

I think Dedalus , Helios and Cenobite are all good possibilities for the A8s

they were similar to my first thoughts on it, I was trying to find words that were close to Super and meant super but nothing really rang true, Mega8 Magna8 etc.

You did indeed, ...it may not have been the one I was struggling with naming but none the less you named a set and I am just about to test another one of "the Gorgon" candidates... its just out of the wax potting tank and going into a strat as I type this.

Thank you Maynehead, PM sent... we will sort out your well deserved compensation.

Still not decided on the A8 set, someone mentioned Infinity and Assasin8 which I like the sound of and are added to a list of about 5 possibilities, but its still possible a name will just jump out .

Thanks again to everyone who is making suggestions, decision on the A8s will be made by Wednesday as I really want to release this set formally later this week and do a bit of fanfare about them online.... which will of course have links back to thefretboard
