Comic acting IS proper acting. See also: Ronnie Barker.

I know it is, but Only Fools and Horses is shit.
Didn't used to be, the early ones were good. Typical BBC, they stretched it umpteen series and numerous Xmas specials too far.

Triggers Broom paradox applied to bands.....Yes, The Drifters, The Sugababes (yeah, I know). Any more bands that have completely changed their line up?

Iron Maiden have had their share of musicians.....

Only Steve Harris and Dave Murray have played on all their albums.......

Triggers broom? The Sisters of Mercy. They've recently replaced Eldritch with The Mekon leaving the drum machine as the only constant member! Oh, and The Cult more ex members than the musicradar forum. >:D<

I don't think that the Ship of Theseus paradox/Trigger's Broom can be applied to any thing with a constant. It applies to something that has all of it's component parts changes.  To this end I don't think that you can put Iron Maiden (Remaining originals: Steve Harris, and Dave Murray), GnR (Axl Rose), Megadeth (Dave Mustaine), Anthrax (Scott Ian) or even Whitesnake (David Coverdale - who I'm surprised hasn't fallen out with himself). I believe that Rob Flynn has been a constant member in Machine Head.  Even though The Cult took a break, I believe that Ian Astbury has been their vocalist all the way through.

You may argue that Black Sabbath have been a Trigger's Broom, but they have had Tony Iommi all the way through.  In fact I think that it's probably quite hard to find that many based on the fact that someone will hang on to the name an cash in on it.

Saying that, I'm not so sure about ELO.

    What about Deep Purple?
Hasn't Ian Paice been in all the line-ups?

Also for Yes I'm pretty sure Chris Squire had been constant.

Jeff Lynne has been constant AFAIK

  • I wasn't sure about Deep Purple; however, as I've just found out that Nick Simpering was the bass player, and not the drummer, Deep Purple are not a Ship of Theseus either.
