Apologies. I never made any definitive measurement on the degradation of signal strength over distance however a bigger aerial will improve that aspect but is dependent upon the environment in which it's operating. So using a wireless monitor to determine the clearest frequency to use is still good practice. Ultimately I used an external router live as I don't take chances unless its unavoidable. As to where I got it from, well I've been searching my email history & have failed to find it so far. I'll update this when I locate it.

Ok thnx - I read somewhere else that it was better / more reliable to use an external router set up for DHCP so tge aerial thing not as important now
