Mostly Rosetta today. I don't seem to like anything else that sounds at all like them, but I really like Rosetta. These two in particular:

Just looked that up - £29.99 on Amazon. £11.99 for the first 5...

It's on my Wish List now. :)
I think the 5 album box set has some of the remixed versions on....Rio Grande Mud gets mentioned in the reviews on Amazon as being the remix.....the one for £29.99 has the original mix. As I understand it after the success of Eliminator "they" went back and added reverb on the drums of a few earlier albums to make them sound more contemporary.
I'm sure the price of the 10 disc set drops occasionally, I don't remember paying as much as £30 for it but I could be wrong.

Yeah, I add stuff like this to my Amazon list and now and again I check it and something on the list might be on offer / reduced so I tend to just buy stuff here and there when the price drops..

Collapse Into Now, the last REM album (I don't like saying that)

It's not their best record, but it's a good record, and a really good way to end a career. I'm still just very sad I won't get to see them play again, probably more than any other band.

The first half of the recent Periphery double album, Juggernaut: Alpha.

I will get to Omega later. Alpha was pretty good though, so Omega has a lot to live up to.

Listening this week to a few things by The Beat and hadn't listened to Pete's cover before. The weird things about it are answered in the YouTube comments - it's a song vaguely about oral sex ( save it fellato) in DADAAD. The story is that Pete Townshend wanted to learn it but between him and David Gilmour they couldn't figure it out and had to get hold of Dave Wakeling from The Beat. Most of Dave's stuff is in open G but he used DADAAD for a few things.

The new Bob Mould album - Patch The Sky. He has stuck very closely to style of his last two releases, but there are some cracking tracks on there.

I've played this half a dozen times today.  It is kind of wistful.

New albums from both Moderat and Yeasayer today... My head might explode. Currently at the end of my first listen to Moderat, and it's incredible; their strongest yet.

New Black Stone Cherry album "Kentucky", deluxe edition with bonus tracks.

    The good...
    - the music
    - "Soul Machine", "Way of the Future", "In Our Dreams", the bonus tracks, but very little else.

    The bad...
    - the lyrics
    - there's a cover of "War" on the album (What is it good for? Absolutely nothing!)
    - the bonus tracks are better than most of the songs on the main album.

Overall opinion: Black Stone Cherry have sold out and their lyrics sound like they just went through someone's record collection from the 1970s-1980s rock genre, and took the song titles and used them as lyrics with connecting words to form sentences. For example, one song features the words "born on the Bayou", "bad moon rising", and "down by the river" in various places throughout. There's no life and soul to the album and they said "back to roots", I knew that was just a bunch of PR stunt words strung together to get people interested.

Overall: 6/10. Should've saved my money for something better later in the year.
