I know so little about theory, or in fact creating my own licks but that video was pretty awesome and made sense.

I've always found that Paul comes across as a very good teacher and this is one of those lessons that, once learned, really brings along your playing. One of the hardest things I found about guitar solos (and still find!) is simply how to get from one lick to the next in different parts of the neck. You can tell this is a method that Paul uses a lot simply because it reminds me of a lot of his songs!
