Given the crazy number of musicians that have died in 2016, I think we should take a moment to think about the impact this has had on Paul Gambaccini, who for each and every one of them has had to find it within himself to put the passing into historical context and to feel all of our hurt.

A few years ago I posted 'RIP Dolly Parton' on Facebook and when queried about it I said 'Oh sorry, I meant Happy Birthday- I always get those two confused'.

Bob Harris is your man. And he's minimally oleaginous compared to Gambaccini who to me has always been one of those critics who believes that music exists in order for him to share his opinions.

I cannot stand Gambaccini, the self proclaimed world authority on every bit of pop music EVER! The way he witters on, he'd actually like to think he was the one who introduced Lennon & McCarntney to each other. The monotone delivery doesn't exactly help his cause much either.

I think that's a tad harsh.

His opinions on your musical output actually make very interesting reading....

Some of those go-to celebrities for opinions are a pain in the arse, but, for the likes of BBC News, Gambo is probably always in his office and always available.
