This is a strange one;

my friend at work, her dad has died recently and apparently he had a few guitars, but times are hard so she wants to sell one or two.

She's given me this and said that he was left handed, however it is strung right handed with a right arm bar, keeping the left sided strap button on the higher horn.

Who knows, anyways it has a small crack in the lacquer at the heel, it's a lovely neck to my hand even with the 7.25" which I normally hate.

I think that is the Hendrix Strat that fender made that was left handed but built to be played right handed - so you got the Hendrix look and sound (bridge pickup) but right handed.
I'm no expert but I think they were quite collectible

Was that a CIJ model though ? I thought that one was a U.S. Model.

Actually - I've realised this can't be one. The Fender logo is the 'wrong' way up for the Hendrix version... perhaps someone converted it to that spec, as a cheaper option to the US one

I think the chances are this is a standard lefty CIJ 68 reissue restrung right handed.

BTW I have exactly the same lacquer crack on my CIJ 62.Appeared about a year after purchas but has remained the same size ever since. It's pretty common and shouldn't put off potetntial buyers. I assume by taking off the neck and checking the pocket you could tell if it's more serious on that guitar. That hairline looks identical to mine though.

Yeah I'm certain it's a proper lefty as no dot markers on the neck right handed and the wrong placed strap button.

Didn't Fender's Hendrix model predate 2004 anyway?

Either way Fender Japan have been making this model for years.

Can't see from the pics on my mob but are the pups staggered? If not they could be the ceramic units my lefty CIJ came with.

Edit: guesstimate= £400 and up?
