Sorted - Mesa Express 5:25 1x10" combo

Ok, spend some time today at a friend's studio. The guy is an amp hoarder and was able to try a few things: Friedman, Two Rock and lastly a mesa boogie express 5:25.

I've been blown away by the mesa, such a versatile amp in one small package! Why I never tried one of those before?!

I had one mate and REALLY liked it.... can be a wee bit noisy though at tickover

Yeah, was very impressed with the tones! Was that the 5:25 or the plus? The one I tried was silent!

I've still got Wazmeister's cast-off 5.25+ Head It is very versatile and surprisingly loud amp. There have been some reports of a bit of hiss, but this seems to be more common on the clean channel surprisingly. I've found that running the master volume low and the Gain high (on the clean channel) sorts it out. Counter intuitive I know but it works..

Mine was a 5:25+ and I found the head was quieter than the 1x12 combo i had.

A real 'sleeper' of an amp though, vastly underrated.

5:50 2x12 sounds bigger and betterer. ;-)

Really? 5:25 with 10" speaker.. honestly guys, along with a rectoverb combo,the worst piece of poop I ever had misfortune to own.on 25w mode it sounded like a bad solid state amp. On 5w mode there was about 0.5 watts of clean headroom. Overdrive sound was like a goose farting.maybe I got a bad one.

5:50 1 X 12 sounds just as good and is lighter.
