Truss Rod Lengths

What's Hot
Another noob builder question - what's a suitable truss rod length for a Gibson scale length with 22 frets? ToneTech have a dual action one at 460mm, which seems a tad long. Or am I wrong?

I can't remember the dimensions off the top of my head, but the longest you will get away with is the length of the fretboard.... generally an inch or so shorter than that

Cheers Wez - I found a 420mm one on eBay, so went with that. The 460mm one would have been protruding past the machine head side of the nut when the other end was landing 5mm shy of the 22nd fret. With the 420mm ending flush with the fingerboard side of the nut, it's about 32mm from the 22nd fret. Maybe 430 would have been better, but I didn't see one, and the 420 should be comfortably into the heel joint in any case. I shall see how it goes.

Cool, as long as it makes it to the heel section it will be fine.
