can't remember if I have asked this before......

My 2014 '58 LP historic has quite a bit of rather pinkish bleed all through the neck binding. there is conflicting stories on the dark web that it's here tae stay or disappear after a while...what's your take and do you care for it?

My 2014 59 has this too, I love it... originals also had it, not that it matters, but I really like the look.

mine is uniformly pink underneath ( as I type this I can hear Kenneth Williams voice go....."Oh,lucky you")  and the top side is almost the same save for an inch at the 1st....damn, I wish it would fill in...

It's a normal consequence of the finishing materials and process used.  The aniline dye tends to migrate through the lacquer.

I like it and use the same process myself.   It will fade in time, another characteristic of red aniline dye.

My 2016 R8 has it slightly along bottom of fretboard but not really along the top, maybe the binding is a little yellower along the top.

I have read it's to be expected and that it sold fade over time with UV exposure.

  • I love it when the headstock breaks, too. All part of the charm.

Yup, and even with a headstock break and bleeding binding they are STILL cooler than a PRS by a country mile....

Embrace it. It would cost an extra 2k for Tom Murphy to do it.
