  • Did they actually come with a manual? I bought an Arion SAD-1 delay new back in the 80s and I can't recall ever having a manual (though it was a long time ago).

    High priced? Really?

I picked one up a while back really cheap. Admittedly not boxed or anything - are these desirable?

I sold my old one for about £30...

As Landau n a number of others have used extensively then the SCH-1 prices have risen from what I have researched .

    Grey SCH-1 ( original version? )
    Black SCH-1
    then followed by
Black SCH-Z ( possibly a slightly different super fat chorus circuit ? )

the grey seems to be rarest => highest priced
and SCH-Z cheapest ( seen them I think NOS on Amazon for £40.

many DIY mods n commercial mods on black models

    Vertex n AWS  - true bypass ; chorus n vibe voicings etc ( £140 + s/h )

black SCH-1 , no mods boxed from £80 upwards ; Americans paying more from what I can see ..

I watched a rig rundown of the rhthym guitarist in GNR who has one. And I guess he could have pretty much anything.

Apparently they do a very good Leslie sound, with the controls turned up.

I've got one, along with an Arion Metal Master, which gives you some idea of how long I've had them both.

The Metal Master ain't worth so much, funnily enough. Sounds like a buzzsaw.

  • @NelsonP  -  do you the SCH-1 manual ?

  • I used to have an sch1 and it's a nice thick sounding chorus, but this idea that it does this fantastic impression of a Leslie in nonsense IMO.  Its sort of ok but I can get a MUCH better Leslie sound out of a Marshall regenerator, which can be bought for peanuts these days.

I'm not sure that I do. It's actually still sitting in a draw at my Mum's house. I know I have the box. Not sure about the manual.

From (to be fair very distant) memory it didn't say too much - it warbles on about Bucket Brigade tech etc. but doesn't really tell you how to use it. Is there something specific you are looking for?

I had a black one, bugger. Not an sch-z.

It was good, bit sickly sounding and thick even for me, but a good chorus pedal. I can see why they'd be popular.
