    I miss the 80's back then people had the nuts and coke-fuelled ambition to say "fuck it. This shit will be awesome".
    Today we have copy/paste design and not a simple new idea have been had for years.

  • I seem to remember reading that Allan Holdsworth got a custom SynthAxe made with a shorter scale length (no simple task, given the technology).
    If you look at the SynthAxe you'll notice that all the frets are equally spaced, unlike the guitar, and AH thought the spacing originally chosen made some of his chosen chord inversions difficult. A bit like constantly trying to play huge stretches down the bottom of a conventional fretboard, I guess.
    He had a custom neck with a smaller, though still constant, fret spacing.
