How to clean a leather strap

What's Hot

My favorite strap has developed a bit of odor... left it coiled up in the guitar case after two back to back hot and sweaty gigs for about a week... yeah, it's pretty sour. It's a Levy's padded leather strap. I've tried soaking it with something called "Natures Miracle", but it hasn't got rid of it yet. Anybody got any tips on how to get the odor out? klingelton kostenlos

You could sell it on eBay as a relliced strap, people would pay thousands.

Or even sell them in a vending machine in practice studios, like the soiled panties in vending machines in Japan.

  • same thing happened to me last year. 2 very hot weekend gigs in a row, unpacked after gigs the next day & strap soaking wet.

let it dry out first which might take some time if it isn't already, then use something like Saddle Soap, it's what horse owners use to clean saddles and such like.

or alternatively if it smells that much after, buy a new one!

It might sound daft but try a little " F'breeze" on it. It lifts out a lot of odour on fabrics, When I was working and maintaining a lot of medical equipment including riser/recliner chairs (some were leather) we used it on those with good results,it seems to work better when the material is dry.

  • I got a tub of leather cleaner/conditioner at a farmers supply shop. It's primarily for saddles, so you should try a horsey supply shop.

I've had the wide leather strap on my aria since the 70s, and while I haven't smoked in a few years now the strap reeks of stale tabacco smoke and lots of dark smoky bars and clubs along the way. It really does stink but I'm not sure I can bring myself to remove the mojo. Maybe one day, just not yet.
