Advice needed preamp valves or power amp valve problem.

I have a Hughes and Kettner Puretone head that has 2 12ax7 and 2 El34. When the amp is played clean everything is o.k. But when I'm using my od pedals the sound is quite fizzy sounding. This was never there before, I always had a lovely smooth overdriven tone. Reading on other forums the general info is a valve problem. Any advice from amp specialists welcome.

    It's probably preamp, but not a certainty.

    Replace each 12AX7 in turn with a spare. If that doesn't fix it, replace the power valves.
