Oh... and all the first Black Sabbath album... P90'd SG.

    First Santana album - ditto.

  • I do love a P90, I've always found they have much of the grunt of a bucker but way more responsiveness. As someone who uses a single channel amp I find P90's the best pickups for going from clean to dirty, just using a volume pot and my playing.

One of my favourite guitars is a P90 loaded Les Paul 50's Tribute that I got for £400 from GuitarGuitar when they were doing there deals of the day prior to Xmas. This was just after the great Gibson fiasco of 2015 and they were desperate to move some stock. You see some of these guitars on the used market and they are still usually very good value, even if it needs a bit of a fret work etc

    Buddy, do it.

Two of my guitars have P90's, a les Paul and a Sheraton. They both sound brilliant to me and we have a similar taste in players.

You our will not be disappointed

This guy seems to be getting a sweet tone out of some P90s, although I might be a bit biased as I have the same guitar, just an older version:

The one thing I had to look at when shopping for a P90 Les Paul was the output ratings

I love the old dogear pickups, but they start to sound a bit thin when playing hard rock (like a Strat Single Coil etc), so I found these:

Slightly higher output (not as high as the Bare Knuckle stuff) and a bit more versatile.

I would go lower output on a Semi Acoustic/Jazz Box due to the feedback.

  • Anyone come across a 50s tribute Les Paul on offer?
