Does anyone carry a small amp for gigs in case thier main rig goes wonky? Ive wondered about getting a little pod or something  similar for the gig bag

  • I have one of those joyo sans amps for a backup. However I am planning to get another amp too but it will mean another box to carry :(

I have a Joyo American Sound and EHX Magnum 22 kicking around in the bottom of my gig bag in case of emergencies.

  • I carry a Zoom G3 with a few patches that are good enough to get me through a gig. I'd just go directly into the PA.

  • I carry a Hartke Bass Attack in my case.

I'm just about to pull the trigger on a Quilter Tone Block as a 'backup' - but tbh it'll be used for long distance gigs if I have to take public transport.

I bought a DV Mark Micro 50 to use but have never bothered even taking it out the house. If anyone wants one it's going cheap ;-) I've had a Tech 21 Blonde for years that stays with me and I plan on using it as my main rig on quite a big gig abroad next month.

  • I bought an Orange micro terror for exactly this purpose.

if my combo(s) implode mid gig for whatever reason, i just plug in the MT through the combo's speaker.

I learnt the hard way...very embarrassing.

I'm selling one of these for £15 posted (uk).
It'll do the job in a pinch.

I've had quite a few back up amps.

Bought them on the Saturday then 'back up' in the emporium by Monday....

When I was gigging, I took a couple of Crate Power blocks as backup plus a reverb and overdrive pedal in addition to my main rig. But that set up had a separate speaker(s)

Now I've got a Blues cube Artist 1x12 combo, if I gig again, I'm considering getting a Boss Katana 100 1x12 as back up.

    It's not a competition.

If I'm using amps I take a spare 1x12 eg Laney Cub 12R or Valvestate8080.  But nowadays I nearly always just use a Tonelab SE/LE through the PA but for gigs I also take my little Tonelab ST as backup to get me through if I need it.
I started out with nothing..... but I've still got most of it left (Seasick Steve)

I have a Laney VC30-210 and GS112VE extn cab. The VC30s are lovely amps that are seriously under-rated.
