I have been kind of down this road before and ended up
listening to Manu Chao although this is a slightly more specific request.
I'm after music with French singing. Probably not old chanson type stuff or Edith Piaf or Johnny Hallyday TBH.
I can reach back into my adolescence for French rock band Trust and a bit of reggae star Alpha Blondie ( who alternates English and French songs)but that's about as far as I get.
So, old man stuff - blues, heavy rock, ska, reggae, country - sung in French.
Suggestions please

I don't think this is what you're after but it's a lot of fun:

For more thoughtful nonsense you could try Georges Brassens:

  • @digitalkettle just starting here because I think Telephone were an earlier incarnation of Shakin Street who, somewhere, in the recesses of my mind, I remember as a French rock band that also included guitarist Ross The Boss who went on to form Manowar.
That's  kind of new wave , works for me cheers :star:

Oh, that's just so bizarre, crying with laughter ( although as it's basically a song about being raped by a gorilla perhaps I shouldn't). Subtitles a massive bonus there

  • Apart from that being mostly in English you can't use this Discussion to try to trick me into liking Jeff Buckley whose appeal I've never understood

That's kind of ambient and pleasant and guitary, maybe some French cool sophistication.

I've been a bit meh about this song, works better all in French IMHO, lovely clear pronunciation which is very helpful for me ( my French pronunciation is terrible).

I only know Cornershop through Brimfull (original and remix) which I love, don't know why I've never explored their stuff further - although this may be something of an acquired taste I'll admit :hushed:
