  • I don't hate that. The bridge doesn't fit with the rest, but a 2 pickup hardtail I could live with.

I had one for a few years - the drummer referred to it as the green sperm

It was beautifully built but I found it's odd 3d-ness quite uncomfortable sometimes. The top horn curves back in towards you. There's also a 'tone chamber' control cavity on the back that stood out further than I liked. The trem was the smoothest i've ever used and the neck has a lovely offset carve, very comfortable and beautifully fretted, with glow in the dark side dots. Overall the build quality is exceptional.

The pickups are the worst I've ever experienced (sterile, characterless and not really replaceable)  and the control layout, although looking quite cool, is actually quite difficult to use. Not much use for quick volume tweaks, and the big round button is the pickup selector - again not much use for quick on the fly changes - though it has a push-push that goes to bridge-only if you want to get there quickly. The Wilko trem had that zingy warble they sometimes have too, though the smoothness offset that.

Overall i enjoyed owning it but don't want it back. I would like to try a Tesla though.

  • Their Birdfish model makes this look stunning.

I won't spoil the surprise for anyone who hasn't seen one.

I quite like it but, oh dear, that headstock is awful.

It's actually an enlarged section of the neck profile.

little german lesson, the maker's name is Ulrich Teuffel & 'teufel' is german for 'devil'.
clearly he has doubled his 'f' in the hope of avoiding detection, but this monsterous half-aplen-half-shovel is a dead givaway isn't it.

by this marque you shall know him.

At least it's different... every guitar doesn't need to look like a 59 burst

I'm all for innovation, but the combination of matt finish, dull colours, too much wood (pickup covers and controls) and that impractical quiff just.. ugh.. just...

To prove I'm not being a luddite - I'm seriously considering getting an NS CR4 Radius Bass to complement the P, the Stingray and hopefully a vintage J

The CR4 is curved for body fit, it's headless (well, it would be, being NS!) and it's full of nice little innovations (like the bridge) - but it still looks freaking cool:

Normally I would agree about wooden pickup covers and knobs, but I think they work here.
