Tomorrow and my wallet

Having sold quite a bit of kit this week, my gear savings fund is bulging and I have full permission from the missus to spend it (specially as I booked us in to Malmaison tomorrow night so she can use the spa)

I know that I really shouldn't jump on the first expensive shiny bass that is presented to me - so if anyone sees me looking like my wallet is out and I'm about to spend a fuckload of money you have my permission to stop me and chastise me accordingly..

I know looks aren't everything, but I prefer my basses to not look like they hit every branch on the way down...!

Ahahaha, I've offloaded a bit recently, so am popping to see @DougCoda ; and the boys tomorrow. I've yet to leave without spending £500...............

Get something made for you, rather than just splashing the cash on another production line stock item.

I'm so tempted to do this. There's a custom build in my life at some point. I do have a vintage itch to scratch tho

A good custom build will cost you twice as much as the guitar that you buy instead of the custom build.

Except you buy 10 other guitars before you decide that only the custom build will do.

Save your money, and spend twice as much first.

'Cos you'll never get anything for it.

Though my experience is that custom instruments never actually get completed or delivered.

I have a custom build,  it's my #1 guitar.  It's "better" than anything else I've got, even some production line stuff that was significantly more expensive.

I have another custom build.  It's my #2 guitar.

And I have another custom build.  It's my #3 guitar.

Though there's a discussion about whether custom build #4 is my #4 or my #5 guitar.



OK, there's the flaw in my argument,  You spend twice  as much on a custom build, and the realise how good they can be, so you carry on spending twice as much on each subsequent guitar.  It can get expensive
