Hungry Horse and selected other brands owned by Greene King.
Abominable places. If the food takes too long to come, you can tide yourself over by licking the food-stained menus and sticky table tops.

@Cirrus today is my first day of unemployment after leaving a GK pub (not HH, next level up). The GK cost cutting on staff numbers is absolutely mental. After talking to a couple of guys who have done Hungry Horse cheffing as a stopgap and comparing it to my own experiences, I'd easily rank Greene King as the worst employer I've had.

Hellemans Mayo is the worst one for me. Every time I go to France I go and get a supply of Delouis Fils.

    Hellemans is like dog smegma.

THere are some brands that dominate despite being eternally average...

In music, Marshall spring to mind- never found one offering in recent years that's even usable, let alobe good.

    But others:

Richmond sausages- can't believe people buy them- made of corn IMO.
Hellman's mayo- an insult to any decent French mayos- horrible processed slime
Bremont Watches- no heritage whatsoever so they use tenuous historical 'memorial' pieces.

    What others are there?
Marshall haven;t made a new amp that is any good for years, but no one else can touch them for the classic 2203/super lead/super bass amps when it comes to rock and metal.

    Sony.

Overpriced and with a noticeable tendency to die just after the warranty runs out, in my experience. Not totally shite, but no better than any other mid-market Japanese brand and not worthy of the higher rating they seem to get.

Volkswagen. Utter, utter shite with exceptional advertising & brand power. If they spent just 10% of the budget they spend on the door handle action on something more important like the water pump it would be a massive improvement.

  • Marshall - not made anything interesting in decades, much less years

Blackstar - I know they have their fans on here, but they just feel like sterile Marshalls to me

AMD (graphics cards) - never come across one which felt like genuine competition to Nvidia, and all AMD's Linux drivers are shocking

Apple - quite possibly the worst software quality control I've ever encountered, and a development approach which seems to revolve more around removing features than adding them

Acer - laptops guaranteed to fall apart within 10 minutes of the warranty expiring

That's it off the top of my head. I'm sure more will occur to me later...
