Jazzmaster owners - help needed please

Hello all :-)

I'm piecing together a 12 string Jazzmaster project and need to fix a hardtail trem plate in place. As I don't have a trem cavity routed out, I'll need to rout a smaller cavity to allow me to slot the strings in place. What I'm not sure about though is whether I'd be better off putting the plate in the traditional place, further away from the bridge, or 'Classic Player' style and closer to the bridge. I'm veering towards the Classic Player position, but I'm going to see how the layout balances before finally deciding. Anyway, after all that spiel, what I'd like to know is exactly where these plates are positioned on your guitars (traditional and Classic Player). Could someone please measure how far the back of the plate is from the end of the body, so that when I finally do the small rout, I can ensure it's in the right place? I've had a look online for dimensions, but nothing seems to jump out, hence the question here.

Thanks everyone!

Gary.
