Got wood....

I know I haven't quite finished the Korina build yet (but that WILL get done this week so watch for that)... But ive been perusing wood for my next builds....

I was going to go for some Sapele but came across this lovely African Walnut (apparently well aged) from our good friend Ian.. Got this first one at the usual sort of price

I was quite satisfied with that BUT then he listed this other piece at a great price cos it has a small split right at the top (I can cut around that) so I couldn't resist

Still deciding what to do... They would both make candidates for more solid slab carved tops like my Korina build... BUT I also have two nice caps... One is spalted and the other flamed maple but they arnt thick enough to take a carve so if I use those I will have to thin the blanks out a bit and make them flat tops.... Decisions decisions

Sure... Ian on Ebay.. Good guy, does some real nice stuff.. I know hes got some Sapele as well but he only seems to list a certain amount at a time.

Ha.. Yeah im always eying up my parents furniture They have some nice Teak stuff from the 70s including the dining room table...

And yeah, Ian has some real nice stuff.. Only been buying off him a few months but always been happy with his stock.. It helps that hes a nice guy and knows his stuff too (and lives within 30 mins driving distance from me so I don't have to pay postage )
