well, I finally bought something . 
A mesa stiletto duece that was for sale localish.
played loads of amps , asks loads of questions , thought long and hard , and finally did it .
got a mesa cab lined up , collecting it over the next few days .

The Stiletto 2x12 combo i used for a while was unbearably loud, sounded great on a big stage though...

Good choice.  Easy to dial in.  Try setting the volume at extremes I.e. Channel vol low and master vol high and vice versa.  You'll get some amazing low volume sounds.
