OK, my 12-y-o grandson is now a drummer with one-month's experience. I'd like to find a piece or three which is well suited to a beginner drummer and a mediocre guitarist (me). I want to encourage his interest in creating music rather than playing along to an mp3 of it.
Ideally with...
1. An opportunity for some short drum breaks.
2. Minimal (preferable no) singing. Definitely no harmonising.
3. Somewhat musical (as opposed to thrash, grunge, etc. LOL)
Any ideas gang?

Maybe some Shadows?

Followed by Rock Lobster (No need to down tune)
In fact a whole B52s medley.
Some nice suggestions there chaps, thanks so much; keep 'em coming.
Wipeout might be worth a try, perhaps simplified - he's only been playing since Christmas but its such a good piece. The shadows, of course their stuff might go well with a single guitar with those really clean tones.
I would never have considered Glenn Miller but after listening to some Youtube stuff, that's certainly on the list.
I must confess that I don't really 'get' the B52 stuff! :-)
Thanks again, any more?
"Rubber Shirt" by Frank Zappa!
(Only kidding. First, it's Drums and a Bass. Second, the time signatures are completely impossible, for various reasons.)
More seriously: some White Stripes tunes? Seven Nation for example. (Don't forget the Ukulele solo.)
EDIT: How on earth did I forget "Black Sabbath" (the track) - just the opening bit where there's (I think) only about two guitar chords and a lot of different drum beats mixed in.
Ramomes and early punk would also be fun. 'Sheena is a punk rocker' is in the trinity grade 1 drum book.
