The only other tele I have to compare it to is my ash cabronita but I'll do my best...
On the wood thing, you can clearly see this example has good straight grain with lots of grain lines close together and few intrusions.
That is exactly what i would be looking for if I wanted to make a guitar from pine. It doesn't really matter too much if it comes from old stock or new kiln dried stuff, you will find suitable and unsuitable peices from either.... but its definitely easier to find the qualities you want in old stock. A tree needs to be able to grow very slowly to get those qualities, that is not something most of the modern pine growers can accomodate

The guitar is as light as a feather and this comes across in the tone, certainly compared to my Cabronita.
