I see no benefit to playing it at volume...
At the end when he is he is comparing the drive channel to the Bassman it does sound close but it’s still up at 50% volume. So not quiet.
There is a reason that I like using the Bassman side though. It takes pedals differently to the Drive channel. Both sound good but they don’t sound the same. You get more clarity with pedals (especially fuzz) on the Bassman setting, even at volume.
Dont get me wrong, both sides sound amazing to my ears (though I don’t use the vibrolux channel at all).
The volume on 3/4 is as high as I’ve pushed the drive channel and that’s comfortably loud. 4 on the Bassman setting is loud, really loud. To push it to the really sweet spot of 6/7 is way way louder than I can get it at most gigs.

Attenuators are good with noisy amps since they allow you to turn up the signal and then reduce the overall volume, which effectively reduces the noise, relatively.
