I don't think their warranty even applies in Britain even if I didn't mod it so wouldn't let the business thing affect my purchase.

Just because you're paranoid, don't mean they're not after youi still wouldn’t but one unseen (unless it was £285 on Amazon, apparently), but that’s been true for as long as I have been playing guitar. Nothing to do with their current financial woes.

My reason for not buying one now, is that there’s nothing I either need, or could justify to myself. I could probably do with selling some stuff, but I don’t think I can be arsed..
Who will own Gibson in 3-6 months time then who knows - Someone will own it and that is pretty much a fact - I can't see any established guitar brands buying it as I don't believe they have the necessary funding available to them - But any new potential owner will not have to worry about establishing a brand in the market place
With the very notable exception of the '58 or '59 reissue ES-335.

I wouldn't buy any of the current Gibson USA models. The annual overhaul of the range confuses me (sorry for moaning about that again) so there may be one or two hidden gems, but they all seem to have at least one feature which puts me off.
I do like several Gibsons though. LPs, 335s, many of the acoustics. I think Explorers look great
But they don’t. Apart from the Dove, which I already have.
