Time for round #24 of the Fretboard Composition Challenge.
Every few months there'll be a composition challenge. It revolves around individuals or groups of forum members composing and recording music based on a set of rules or guidelines laid out for that particular challenge.
No prizes for this challenge. It's just for fun, a spur to creating, sharing, discussing music/recording and learning. Plus a way of testing the water with your creations and getting some feedback.
GUIDELINES -THEME
As this challenge will finish in the run up to Christmas, it seems appropriate to have a related theme. So the theme is to write a Christmas related tune or song.
Interpret the theme as you wish. For example (as a couple of pointers), it could be a piece with the sounds of Christmas, or you could try to be the next Slade or Wizard. Alternatively, you could go off at a complete tangent
, but you 'might' get more votes if there's an obvious link to the theme.
Picture: In addition to the music, try to create your own picture that relates to your selected theme/title. This isn't mandatory but, as a small incentive, those that provide a picture will be awarded a free point to add to their voting score. Note the picture can be anything from a hand drawn sketch, photo, photo edit or something generated in a graphics package.
DATES AND VOTING
Fretboard Challenge #24 starts NOW! - Submission deadline extended from Midnight 7th to 14th December 2018.
Voting will start soon after the submission deadline and run for about two weeks, with each voter selecting their 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice.
First choice gets 5 points - Second choice gets 3 points - Third choice gets 1 point
The entry with the most points wins.
The order and scores of the three people with the most votes will be announced soon after the voting ends.
SUBMISSION DETAILS
All recordings and pictures need to be sent via email to Compositions@theFB.co.uk
Songs to be submitted in mp3 format.

Otherwise I've got sleigh bells in NI Percussion Symphony Series.
I wondered if I could write a tune to the following:
Santa's up my chimney, it's lovely that he's come
I've asked for loads of gifts this year, but he's just gave me one

I've just discovered there are sleigh bells in General Midi.
You might be able to get the sound by using the FluidR3 GM soundfont with something that will play it. I believe Kontakt will play soundfonts. There used to be various free sample players around, but it's a long time since I've used one and that was way back in my 32bit OS days.
You can get the sound within Musescore, but I'm not sure how you'd integrate that sound into a DAW.
Mine is not big nor clever, nor is it classy. I hope I get to finish it in time

Is everyone OK with extending the deadline to the 14th Dec? If that helps.
Remember, it's easier to criticise than create!
I'll have finished mine when I can stop fiddling with it.

Why not, if it helps to get more entries. Unless anyone objects. To compensate, I'll reduce usual two week voting time to one week, so the votes are in and the winner announced before Xmas
I'll edit the original post.
The deadline is now the 14th Dec. So now you've got even longer to leave it until the last minute.
