I have a friend who has a status S2 bass and he's looking to sell it and is after some info on it.

Its an original S2, with flightcase, immaculate, serial number 451. He thinks he bought it around 86 or 87.

I used to know someone with one, or at least an incredibly similar model, IIRC about 1989. I had my MIJ Strat and an E chord and he had his Status and and the Peter Gunn riff. I think even then they were some sort of huge £1800 price new?

I find the best gauge generally is to do an advanced search on eBay of completed listings. It will show similar items. whether they sold or not and final price if they did.

  • They are the ones Washburn copied and the Washburn was a great bass except the fingerboard on some became unstuck
