I really like a lot of Mike’s stuff - but for me that album is just an immensely well crafted and beautifully written piece which reflects and complements the book incredibly well.
Songs Of Distant Earth also contains some incredibly low frequencies, which is quite fun if you play it really loud .

This tune is a banger.
The Barron Knights Greatest Hits.
A classic.
The production seems somewhat out of place on this album, being rather too glossy and smooth sounding. The synths don't fit either, not really gelling where the organ once did. RP's Matt Piucci recently said that they were talked into using a not very good producer by some very nice people, or words to that effect.
That said, there are some great songs on there and I still play it regularly to this day.
I said maybe.....
When I hear that song, I have so many questions.
What time signature is the drummer playing in?
What tuning are the guitars in?
Who is Foot Foot?
I listen to the song and I feel an emptyness that I myself have no pal called Foot Foot.
I guess nobody else likes it cos I'm the only one who ever seems to have heard of it
And I also love VHIII. And Bigger, Better, Faster, More.
