My youngest son is keen on the idea of playing around with some DJ stuff.
His birthday is approaching so I thought I might get him a DJ controller.... the only downside is that he doesn't own a PC or mac, and it seems that nearly all the 'cheaper' stuff is only suitable for that.
He does have an iPad, though so, does anyone know of a controller that will plug directly into a lightning socket and work straight away, with the minimum of faff?
Don't really want to spend more than about £150 as he's fourteen and this will probably be a passing fad!

This article is outdated but you should be able to connect the launchpad to the ipad..

Not sure if this is what your mean by "DJ stuff". Do you have a better idea of what he's keen on?

This launchpad online simulation gives you an idea of what the launchpad does. Essentially, u can use it to trigger musical parts and remix songs on the fly.
Press on your regular QWERTY keyboard to trigger the clips (the alphabetical and number keys correspond to the launchpad grid). you can play the tune in any way you want by varying the timing/order of each clip.
P.S. the website takes some time to load. Give it a minute or two.

Cheers Squire...
What I was more drawn towards was something like this Pioneer controller (but less expensive)...
Most of them are significantly more expensive.

But seriously. What is this? A deck?

Essentially, yes. Twin "virtual" decks that you can use, in conjuction with an ipad to mix etc on.
There is an Ion version but that uses the old ipad plug rather than the lightning connector.
