The pickups on mine have been swapped for a set of Mojos, the bridge was slung in the bin (those AOM bridges are turd) - there's a Wilkinson roller on there now, I fitted an AVRI trem unit (cos I had one and they are nicer quality) and a Staytrem arm. It now rings like a bell, the harmonics are incredible and you can play those strings behind the bridge.
My Jazzmaster has been a bit of a journey - and has taken many months of fiddling but its now *brilliant*.
I can't recommend one high enough
Hijack away @KarlosSantos - the JM vs Jag thing's always worthy of discussion
Ah well, you snooze, you lose, good luck with the build !

If I can do it anyone can
Its simple really just like painting by numbers. Just get a good book like Dan Erlwines guitar player repair & set up guide to help you with set up etc.
Take your time with the wiring & you can have a guitar in an afternoon.
Its a great learning experience & will give you confidence to mod & set up your guitars in the future. Lots of fun too.
That makes the baby Jesus cry.
Stable, simple to fit, and if you want it to just go down in pitch (like me) there is no set up at all, just tighten it up till it's done.
Also, you are 10 percent more attractive when holding one.
