For my purposes, the critical measurement is the drop from the underside of the "shelf" to the bottom face of the nut where it will contact the headstock face.
The overhang/lip is 2mm
Just in case this is useful
Dave.
I blame being distracted by my three year old
I am working on a neck with a droopy Jackson/Charvel style headstock. I have decided to employ locking machineheads rather than a string clamp device. Consequently, the nut string slots need to be cut at a bunch of different angles to guide each string to its respective tuner. I have decided to make something the old-fashioned way from a blank.
Apologies to PVO_Dave.
