Help with images!

How do you get images to work? I'm not allowed to paste in links and the http/url 'buttons' don't work for my dropdox files. It will let me put in images from a google search, however.  Other people have succeeded, so what do any need to do? Any help would be much appreciated, I just want to place an ad and it's proving surprisingly difficult. I'm pretty rubbish with tech tho...

Thanks TTony, looks like my file sizes were too big, so I've reduced the quality and everything seems to work. I don't remember seeing anything about that on the 'how to,' thread, but I most likely missed it. Would be useful info to add if it isn't there tho But yeah, problem solved, I think!
