Stereo set up noise....

hotpickupshotpickups Frets: 1823
Did a gig last night and planned to use my amps in a stereo set up (lovely). All works well with the set up at home and other places but at this venue I plugged in the pedal board and split to the two amps and got massive feedback and noise. I had to unplug the second amp and go mono in the end. Shame but needs must. Just tried it at home again and it's perfectly working as it should. What could have happened at the venue?

    Right:

Were you using the same plug gang for FX and both amps?
Were you using a phase invertor and groundlift box?
Were you using any extention leads to the mains supplied from the venue?

    Yes same plug gang

Yes using a phase/ground lift box. However I didn't flick any switches to be honest. Always worked fine wherever I've used the amps before at other venues using the box

No used my own extension leads

    Bloody hell.

Those are the top 3 causes.

The only other possibility is you were gigging at @Wazmeister gaffe?

Oh well silly mistake. Actually probably won't do it again as it's becoming a bit of a faff taking two amps to gigs :(

"Massive feedback" muddies things a bit, and makes me think that whatever the problem was it was nothing to do with the fact you were using two amps, unless you'd accidentally wired them up wrong in the heat of the moment (I promise you wouldn't be the first!)

Can't see how really. Just two cables coming out of board to each amp etc :(
