I just had to buy a new battery for my laptop. To purchase and install cost me £150 so not cheap items unless you know somewhere else you can buy one cheaper from?

£30 for a 2008 Macbook battery if it's an A118. No installation needed, just flip the old one out and insert the new.

You're better off with a genuine Apple battery anyway, I bought a £30 one and my MBP randomly switched off. Bought a replacement from Apple and it is as good as new. Mine is a late 2008, replaced the HD with a SSD which worked wonders; so do something similar with the one for sale here and there is still plenty life in it,

The snide ones don't hold charge and the cycles seems to ramp up very quickly but I've had no switching off issues. I once didn't have the scratch for a new one and the snide was fine for a while.

I've been trying to convince my pal to jump on this Mac as it's a steal but he's dragging his feet.

@Gagaryn, just as an aside, when I joined this forum I was gonna use my Facebook avatar but then I realised than someone was already using it (99% the same)... *YOU*  oh well
