Rod Magnet would be a great name for a pickup maker.

More "Fendery" than the traditional dual bar magnets and adjustable screw polepieces arrangement.

TV Jones makes a 'Tron derivative in this manner. (The Magna'Tron?) Sound clips of this model and a TVJ Classic Plus would give some impression of the differences that the two construction methods make.

    Two well-chosen demo videos.

Back in the day, the rod magnet "P90" was a legitimate Seth Lover design. The sound reminds me of the Gibson Skylark single coil found on the Melody Maker. Nice but it is necessary to roll the tone pot back a bit to approach the "rudeness" of a conventional P90.
