No idea why, but the obviously original tuners work left-handed (tightening counter-clockwise). 

Reverse gearing is period correct for Fender basses with the earlier smaller, rivet-fastened key Kluson machine heads. (Rickenbacker basses also used reversed gearing. It's a carry over from orchestral contrabass.)

It's a brand new guitar model, with a new approach to guitar building. We use different wood types for the bass and treble parts of the tonal range to make guitars more predictable and more consistent in production.

Disclaimer on our finish: unlike big companies, we use pure nitro finish, that is very brittle, much the same technology that was used back in the 60s. For that reason, even our NEWLY made guitars will sometimes have paint chips, checking, light scratches, and other forms of light relic, especially in places with sharp angles (e.g. neck pocket). Those things are absolutely unavoidable, and Duotons will age naturally over time.
